Nottingham Trent University · January 2027 start

This interdisciplinary PhD project aims to develop a human neuromuscular junction model using stem-cell-derived motor neurons and engineered skeletal muscle tissue. The model will be used to investigate nerve-to-muscle communication and muscular dystrophy, with potential applications in disease modelling and therapy development.

The supervisory team spans Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham. The opportunity is advertised with UK tuition fees and a UKRI-rate stipend, subject to eligibility and funding approval. Applicants should consult the university’s full information for entry criteria and funding conditions.
